Abstract
Eleven Gases of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) were diagnosed in cats from 1979 to 1990. The clinical disease course was similar to that described for humans with SLE. The case reports serve to illustrate the protean nature of SLE in cats, depicting a variety of clinical presentations. Treatment with glucocorticoids and/or nitrogen mustard compounds resulted in good clinical responses in most cases. History, signs, symptoms, differential diagnoses, physical examinations, clinical testing, treatment, and prognosis of each case report is discussed, followed by a comparison of feline and human SLE.
