Abstract
New models for the elastic properties (Young’s and shear moduli, bulk modulus, and Poisson’s ratio) of two-phase pore-solid composites are developed using the differential effective medium approach (DEMA). Out of the four models developed in the paper, two models predict the elastic properties to be a function of only one variable, that is, porosity (volume fraction of pores). The remaining two models include an additional parameter, namely the maximum packing volume fraction of pores. The proposed models are evaluated using published experimental data on pore-solid composites, covering a broad range of porosity.
