Pregnancy termination in bitches during early pregnancy with anti-progestin (Aglepriston-Alizin (R))

Total of 10 mismated bitches, clinical patients, less than 8 years old were treated at the Clinic for Obstetrics and Reproduction - Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University Zagreb, from January to April 2002. Owners confirmed that the bitches were breed and they demanded pregnancy termination. Sperm was found in vaginal smears in 7 out of 10 bitches second day after breeding. More than 80% superficial cells in vaginal stnear cytology confirmed the estrus in all 10 bitches. On day 15 after breeding all bitches were passed gynecological examination and anti-progestin aglepristone (Alizine (R)) was administered in dose of 10 mg/kg of body weight (0.33 ml/kg). Equal (lose was administered 24 hours later. Abdominal ultrasonography 20 clays after the treatment did not confirme any pregnancy.
