The multiplicative sum Zagreb index of a graph G, denoted by Pi(1)*(G), is the product of the sum of the degrees of adjacent vertices in G. This graphical invariant is the multiplicative version of the well known first Zagreb index and introduced by Eliasi, Iranmanesh and Gutman (MATCH Commun. Math. Comput. Chem. 68 (2012) 217-230). In this paper we determine the extremal graphs with respect to the multiplicative sum Zagreb index for several classes of graphs.
