Transition metal free dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR) of 1-phenyethanol and 2,3-dihydro-1H-inden-1-ol has been accomplished by the combination of Candida antarctica lipase (CAL-B) and zeolite using vinyl octanoate or p-chlorophenyl pentanoate as acyl donor in a mixed solvent system of ionic liquid and hexane in the presence of 1.0eq. of water. Duplicated use of the catalysts has also been demonstrated in the DKR of 2,3-dihydro-1H-inden-1-ol using this reaction system. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
