Abstract
CuO a p-type semiconductor with a narrow band gap of 1.2 eV has attracted a great attention for its applications in catalysis Li-ion electrode material solar cells sensors and solar selective absorbing coating. Sphere-like CuO products combined by several nanoparticles were prepared via wet chemical method at 50 °C using CuSO4•5H2O as precursor. The possible processes for CuO formation were studied by a series of single-factor experiments and is characterized by X-ray diffraction scanning electron microscopy transmission electron microscopy high-resolution transmission electron microscopy selected-area electron diffraction. Additionally the application of CuO nanoparticles on the thermal decomposition of ammonium perchlorate is evaluated with 2 wt. % CuO nanoparticles at heating rates of 10 15 20 and 25 °C/min-1 from 35°C to 500 °C.
