Abstract
Ethyl 2-oxoheptanoate has been reduced by three methods: free bakersâ yeast (FBY) in water, immobilized bakersâ yeast (IMBY) in water, and IMBY in hexane. It has been found that the stereochemistry of reduction of α-keto esters by bakersâ yeast is controlled by appropriate choice of reaction conditions. © 1988, American Chemical Society.
