Embelia ribes is a large climbing medicinal plant found majorly in India and native countries. It belongs to family Myrsinaceae. A huge amount of natural and synthetic antioxidants has been determined to develop favorable effects in human health and also inhibit diseases. The radical scavenging activity of was asses by using DPPH method and evaluated by half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50). The phenolic and flavonoid content was determined by Folin Ciocalteu and aluminium chloride calorimetry method, respectively. UV-VIS spectrophotometer was used to determine the absorbance of extracts. In this study it is examined that among four different extracts (hexane, ethyl acetate, methanol and dichloromethane) ethyl acetate has maximum radical scavenging property. By the examination of different extract, it is shown that Embelia ribes possess free radical eradicating/scavenging property. it is proposing that it can be used to manufacture therapeutic product for utilizing its more beneficial effects. © 2019, Colegio de Farmaceuticos de la Provincia de Buenos Aires.
