Abstract
Understanding the issue of mental health is top of mind for schools and parents, and Chartwells K12 set out to address the issue with a new concept called Mood Boost, launched last fall, that was designed to help primary and secondary school students make the connection between what they eat and how they feel. ovi Community School District in Michigan to Stamford Public Schools in Connecticut and Westminster Public Schools in Colorado, the power of Mood Boost is transforming hundreds of school cafeterias across the country into happier and healthier places and inspiring students after only a few months of implementation to make food choices that can help them feel more confident, alert, calm and happy. es include raspberries with chocolate and basil (alert); broccoli salad with raisins (calm); strawberry avocado smoothie (confident); citrus chickpea salad (happy); red kidney bean hummus (smart); and beet, apple, carrot salad (strong).
