Soil samples were collected from five localities in Jizan city, Saudi Arabia, and analysed for metals and fungal flora. Soil type is sandy and alkaline; it contains low percentage of total organic matter and high percentaje of total soluble salts. Soil samples contain high concentrations of lead and copper followed by nicker, manganese and cadmium. Seventeen species belonging to eight genera of fungi were isolated: Aspergillus (4 species), Fusarium and Penicillium (3 species), Alternaria and Cladosporium (2 species), Curvularia, Mucor and Nigrospora (1 species).
