Abstract
Very small initial concentrations of cyclohexane (1-11 ppm) were heated behind reflected shock waves at 1180-1900 K at 1.5 and 2 bar. The experiments were performed in a high purity shock tube applying a very sensitive detection method, the ARAS technique. From the experimental data, the molecular channel proceeds much slower than considered up to now, whereas for the H-atom elimination pathway, rate coefficients were found, which are similar to those of the molecular channel. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 227th ACS National Meeting (Anaheim, CA 3/28/2004-4/1/2004).
