The reaction kinetics of aromatic and nonaromatic hydrocarbons obtained from the pyrolysis of Gasoline and based on high temperature catalytic hydrodealkylation (HDA) were investigated. Above 525°C the process was thermo-catalytic as both the HDA and hydrocracking reactions took place on the catalyst surface and between catalyst pellets. The toluene HDA was substantially boosted by the nonaromatic hydrocarbons between the interpellets, but was slightly inhibited on the catalyst surface.
