Abstract
1. In the alkylation of benzene with 2-methyl-2-butene, the expected 2-methyl-2-phenylbutane is formed. 2. Unlike its isomers, 2-methyl-2-butene undergoes only slight isomerization into 2-methyl-1-butene under the conditions used (about 5%). © 1960 Consultants Bureau Enterprises, Inc.
