Abstract
Stability of white phosphorus emulsions in water and water-organic systems was studied. Oil-in-water emulsions stabilized with sodium oleate, sodium salt of carboxymethyl cellulose, and amylose were found to meet the criteria necessary for radiation-induced polymerization for the synthesis of modified red phosphorus. In the case of multiple emulsions, the organic phase was chosen based on the results of the solution polymerization of phosphorus. Mixtures of ionic (monoamylol amide) and non-ionic (VNIIZh and ABC-1650, see Table 2) emulsifiers were used as the stabilizers. © 1999 MAHK "Hayka/Interperiodica".
