Abstract
In a series of studies on bioactive constituents in medicinal plants of the family Rutaceae, a number of new coumarins, acridone alkaloids, and carbazole alkaloids were isolated, and their structures were elucidated by the chemical and spectroscopic methods. Some of the compounds demonstrated significant inhibitory effects on Epstein-Barr virus activation, suppressive effects on nitric oxide generation, and antiproliferative effects. Moreover, the substituted 7H- pyrido[4,3-c]carbazoles were synthesized from the natural product, murrayanine, which was isolated from Murraya species. The self-association of them and intermolecular interaction between 7H-pyrido[4,3-c]carbazole and adenine were studied.
