Abstract
Values of physical and chemical characteristics of the water revealed that it was grossly polluted at sampling station S3 where the river Kali receives the wastes of West Coast Paper Mills. Yearly average values of heavy metals were compared with ISI, EPA and Rawal's water quality criteria and it was found that concentrations of all these metals except iron and manganese were well below the permissible level, but in future their level may cross the toxic level if remedial measures like prevention of inflow of effluents is not checked. -from Authors
