Abstract
A chitosan alginate Fe-Mn sludge bead (CAFB) with high mechanical strength and stability was prepared by chitosan alginate hydrogel, embedding iron-manganese sludge from the backwashing wastewater of biofilter for iron and manganese removal. The results of characterization showed that it had mesoporous structure with rough surface morphology and large specific surface area (117.20m2/g), and the content of Fe and Mn were as high as 69.31% by EDS. The data of adsorption kinetics fitted pseudo-second kinetic model (R2=0.963) well. The Langmuir adsorption isotherm model could better describe the As(V) adsorption behavior with R2=0.969. Maximum adsorption capacity was 15.80mg/g at 25°C.The acidic condition was favorable for the adsorption of As(V), and in the range of pH=3~7, the As(V) removal rate could reach up to 80%. H2PO4 -, SiO3 2- had obvious suppression on As(V) adsorption. After 4times of regeneration with 0.1mol/L NaOH solution, the adsorption amount could still reach up to 70.68% of the initial value. In conclusion, CAFB has the prospect of application in engineering. © 2020, Editorial Board of China Environmental Science. All right reserved.
