Abstract
Biochemical and histopathological studies were conducted on testes of adult rabbits at 2, 4, 6 and 8 mth after single intratracheal administration of manganese dioxide. At these time intervals activity of adenosine triphosphatase (ATPase) and succinic dehydrogenase (SDH) was decreased in the manganese treated animals. A gradual decrease in the activity of both enzymes and progressive destruction of seminiferous tubules was observed with the advancement of time. The relationship between the biochemical and histopathological changes indicate that they are responsible for the sterility in rabbits observed earlier.
