Abstract
Background: Argyreia nervosa commonly known as elephant creeper, woolly morning glory. (English) Vriddhadaru, and Samundrasok (Sanskrit) belongs to family Convolvulaceae, traditional plant claimed as more therapeutic value. Objective: The present study was carried out to highlight phytochemical screening of A. nervosa, and it was analyzed using various solvent such as ethanol, methanol, chloroform, N-hexane, aqueous, and hydroalcohol. Materials and Methods: Leaf and root of A. nervosa extracted with different solvents. Results: The phytochemical screening of various extracts of leaf and root of A. nervosa revealed the presence of alkaloids, carbohydrates, proteins, steroids, phenols, tannins, flavonoids, and saponins. The hydroalcoholic extract showed high extractive value when compared to aqueous and other solvents. Conclusion: The present study concludes that A. nervosa extract can be used as one of therapeutic potential drugs for the treatment of various diseases due to its antioxidant properties. © 2020 JPR Solutions.
