Abstract
Reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection was used to determine benzo(a)pyrene (BaP), anthracene (ANT) and phenanthrene (PHE) in the urine of environmentally-exposed humans. Sampling was performed in a small city of Lithuania, where concentrations of PHE, ANT, and BaP in aerosols are not very high. Samples were collected in the morning from 12 smokers and 12 non-smokers. Statistical evaluation of all examined cases demonstrate that BaP, ANT and PHE concentrations in urine among smokers are higher.
