Abstract
In order to monitor the etherification of multiple halogen substituted benzene, the effect of etherifying agent and acid-binding agent on 1, 5-difluoro-2, 4-dinitrobenzene etherification has been well studied. When isopropanol was used as etherifying agent, the mono-etherified dinitrobenzene, 1-fluoro-5-isopropoxy-2,4-dinitrobenze, was able to be obtained by using weak base triethylamine as acid-binding agent. Double-etherified dinitrobenzene, 1, 5-diisopropoxy-2,4-dinitrobenzene, was prepared in the presence of strong acid-binding agent such as NaOH. When methanol was employed as etherifying agent, 1,5-dimethoxy-2,4-dinitrobenzene was synthesized under either weak acid-binding agent or strong acid-binding agent conditions.
