Abstract
To evaluate the hydraulic conductivity influence in the mobility of heavy metals, a multispecies contaminant solution composed of manganese, zinc, cadmium, copper, lead and chromium was applied on columns of a residual gneisiic soil, compacted in the dry and wet brandies of the compaction curve. Curves of saturated hydraulic conductivity versus pore volume and breakthrough curves for the metals were obtained. It was observed a great difference on saturated hydraulic conductivity values of samples compacted ia the dry and wet branches. In the dry branch a significant increase in the value of tin parameter was verified initially, followed by a decrease until approximately the initial value. In the wet branch, the hydraulic conductivity decreased continuously. Samples compacted in the dry branch presented a larger mobility of the metals, except for the manganese, which behaviour was not influenced by variation of saturated hydraulic conductivity.
