Abstract
The chemical investigation of the stem bark of B. purpurea belonging to the family Leguminosae led to the isolation of nine phytoconstituents namely, Myristic acid, Octadecanoic acid, 9,12-Octadecadienoic acid, isopropyl-24-methyl-pentacosanoate, Stigmasterol, -1.c01-Amyrin, -1.c01-Sitosterol, Lupeol and ethyl 9,12- Hexadecadienoate. The isolated compounds were characterized using various spectrometric data. These compounds have been reported for the first time from the n-hexane extract of the stem bark of B. purpurea.
