Abstract
In view of the development requirements of high energy and low characteristic signal propellant for solid rocket motor, using 3, 3-diazomethyloxybutane and tetrahydrofuran copolyether (PBT) as binders, and mixture of equal mass ratio of bis (2, 2-dinitropropanol) formaldehyde and bis (2, 2-dinitropropanol) acetaldehyde (A3) as plasticizer. The processing properties, mechanical properties, combustion properties, smoke characteristics and energy properties of PBT based reduced smoke propellant formulation were studied by reducing the content of aluminum powder (Al) in the propellant formula, and using HMX to partially replace oxidant. The results show that the slurry of PBT reduced smoke propellant has low viscosity and good processing properties. When the curing parameter is 1.30 and the amount of bonding agent is 0.30%, the high temperature tensile strength of PBT reduced smoke propellant is 0.511 MPa, and the elongation at normal temperature, high temperature and low temperature are all more than 40%.The static pressure index of propellant is 0.408 in the working pressure range from 3 MPa to 11 MPa, and the visible light transmittance, infrared transmittance and laser transmittance are all more than 70%, and the measured specific impulse is 250.4 s under 6.86 MPa, its efficiency is 95.9%. © 2021, Editorial Dept. of JSRT.
