Abstract
A model is presented for the low frequency lattice vibrations in anthraceneâd10, which involve the molecular external vibrations and certain internal distortions, namely the butterfly and twisting motions. The calculated phonon dispersion relation is compared with experimental results from neutron coherent inelastic scattering, Raman scattering, and infrared absorption.
