In this study, HZSM-5 was calcined at 823 and 1083 K to obtain the orthorhombic and monoclinic forms, respectively. The samples were characterized by XRD, scanning electron microscopy, IR spectroscopy, adsorption of H//2, cyclo-and normal-hexanes and their catalytic activity in the methylation of toluene with methanol and disproportionation of toluene. It is shown that crystals with a monoclinic symmetry exhibit higher para-selectivity than those with an orthorhombic symmetry.
