Abstract
Effect of oxidizers, containing AP, RDX, HMX, on slurry rheological behavior for minimum smoke and high-energy GAP composite propellant was investigated by the aid of advanced expansion rheometer(ARES).The results show that the steady viscosity and thixotropic ring area under large shear force of propellant slurry, and dynamic storage modulus and loss modulus under small shear force increase significantly, when particles in the GAP bingder plasticized by nitrate is AP. The rheological properties of slurry are poor, but the viscosity of slurry increases slowly, so it can be used for casting for a long time. When RDX or HMX is added into the nitrate plasticized gap binder system, the steady viscosity and thixotropic ring area under large shear force of propellant slurry, and dynamic storage modulus and loss modulus under small shear force are small, and the initial fluidity of propellant slurry is relatively good. However, the viscosity of slurry increased rapidly and its application period is short. The growth rate of viscosity slow down, when 1% AP is added in the suspension of HMX/NE/GAP, leading to a long pot life of slurry. © 2020, Editorial Dept. of JSRT. All right reserved.
