Abstract
In an in vitro experiment, it was observed that among nine fungicides, carbendazim and captan inhibited 100% growth of the two isolates of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lentis (FOL) causing wilt of lentil (Lens culinaris Medikus) in 10 - 100 μg /ml concentration. They were followed by mercuric chloride with 100% inhibition in 100 μg /ml. Growth inhibition of 88, 86 and 65 - 67% was separately observed in 100 μg /ml of thiram, mancozeb, metalaxyl and thiophanate methyl, respectively, in comparison to untreated check. Among weedicides and insecticides, pendimethalin was most effective in causing 86- 76% growth inhibition in 100 - 10 μg /ml concentration, followed by carbofuran, glycel, phorate and carbosulfan. Among six other chemicals, sodium azide inhibited 100% growth even at 0.05 per cent. It was followed by EDTA with 61 - 62% inhibition in 1% and polyvinylpyrrolidone with 95% inhibition at 0.05% concentration. Zinc sulphate and kerosene oil were also highly toxic to FOL causing 100% growth inhibition at 0.5% and 10% concentration, respectively. Manganese chloride exhibited 85% growth inhibition at 10% concentrations.
