The interaction of dihydroxylammonium 5, 5'-bistetrazole-1, 1'-diolate (HATO) with CMDB propellant components were studied by using DSC method, curing experiment of propellant slurry and vacuum stability test. The DSC results show that there are strong interaction between HATO with nitrocellulose(NC), nitroglycerine(NG), N-nitrodihydroxyethylaminedinitrate(DINA), cyclotrimethylene-trinitramine(RDX), cyclotetramethylenete-tranitramine(HMX), and carbon black(CB), and no obvious interaction between HATO with lead salt of 3-nitro-1, 2, 4-triazole-5-one(NTO-Pb) and aluminum powder(Al). The CMDB propellant containing HATO was prepared by curing experiment at 70°C, and analyzed by DSC method. It was found that HATO could decrease the decomposition temperature of CMDB propellant for the interaction between HATO and nitrate ester components. Furthermore, after heating at 100°C for 48 h, the volume of gas products for HATO and CMDB propellant containing HATO were determined by the vacuum stability tests to be 0.30 ml/g and 0.39 ml/g respectively.
