Abstract
The book reviews forty-six different mineral commodities ranging from asbestos to zeolites and including clays, iron oxide, manganese, sand and gravel, sandstone, and slate. The commodities are listed in alphabetical order rather than the geological listing utilised in their earlier publication "Geology of the Non-Metallics'. Each section contains information on physical and chemical properties and their industrial significance, the geological environment and genesis, and the major producing districts. Grade, production, and reserve figures are presented wherever possible and the more important mining companies are listed. An up-to-date list of references is provided for each commodity and a comprehensive six-page Index enables ready cross-checking of information and contents. A total of 119 geographical maps, geological plans and cross-sections, and photographs complement the text. -R.Foster
