Abstract
In order to study the dynamic response characteristics of metal shell and fiber-reinforced composite shell, the 3D digital image correlation (3D-DIC) method and the empirical mode decomposition-Hilbert Huang transform (EMD-HHT) are used to study the response process of two shell structures under the action of internal explosion. The comparison of dynamic responses at different times shows that the dynamic deformation process of fiber-reinforced composite shell is complex. Along with the radial deformation, there exist the axial deformation, and the friction between layers and between the composite material and the lining. Accordingly, the energy acting on the structure under explosion loading is greatly weakened, and the maximum deformation and the plastic deformation are reduced. The relations among the radial deformation of shell, TNT equivalent and the structure size are also fitted. The distribution characteristics of the vibration energy of shells in the time-frequency domain are compared. It is shown that the fiber-reinforced composite shell can reduce the probability of the structure failure caused by the excessive energy concentration on the shell under the action of internal explosion. Through the above comparison, it can be seen that the anti-detonation performance of the fiber-reinforced composite shell is obviously better than that of the metal shell. © 2020, Editorial Board of Acta Armamentarii.
