1. An investigation was made of the aromatization of n-hexane in presence of a 1% Pt/γ-Al2O3 catalyst in a stream of hydrogen at atmospheric pressure in the temperature range 380-540° with the impulse regime. 2. The maximum yield of benzene was obtained at 540° (29% in the catalyzate). 3. Over the whole temperature range investigated C5-dehydrocyclization of hexane occurs with formation of methylcyclopentane. 4. Under the conditions of the reaction methylcyclopentane undergoes hydrogenolysis and dehydrogenation with formation of 1-methylcyclopentene and methylcyclopentadiene, and also dehydroisomerization with formation of benzene. © 1968 Consultants Bureau.
