The photoconduction of solutions of triphenylamine in benzene and n-hexane, and in mixtures of these two solvents, has been studied using a special cell for field strengths up to 20,000 V/cm. Although the photocurrents observed were qualitatively the same for each solvent, the values were two orders of magnitude greater in benzene than in n-hexane. The photolysis of the triphenylamine to N-phenylcarbazole also proceeds at roughly the same rate in each solvent.
