Abstract
The properties of 1-hexene and 1-butene linear low density polyethylene(LLDPE) were investigated through comparative analysis. The results indicate that the molar fraction of the comonomer 1-hexene of 1-hexane LLDPE is lower than that of 1-butene of its counterpart with similar density and melt flow rate. Compared to 1-butene LLDPE, 1-hexene LLDPE has thicker lamella and narrower lamella thickness distribution. The tensile properties of the two copolymers differ significantly, especially at high deformation rates. Tensile stress at yield and break, Elmendorf tear strength, Spencer impact strength and optical property of 1-hexene LLDPE cast film are superior to those of 1-butene copolymer film, respectively.
