Abstract
[Cu(O2CCH3)2]2, 1, reacts with pyridine to form violet-blue Cu(O2CCH3)2(pyridine)3, 2, in > 90% yield. 2 crystallizes from pyridine with a distorted square-pyramidal geometry around copper with the monodentate acetate ligands located diagonally in the basal positions. 1 reacts with Bi(OCMe3)3 in THF to form blue Cu6(μ-O2CCH3)4(μ 4-O2CCH3)2(μ-OC3) 6,3. 3 crystallizes from THF/hexanes with a hexagon of copper atoms linked by six double bridging tert-butoxide ligands, four doubly-bridging bidentate acetates, and two quadruped bridging bidentate acetate ligands.
