1. 1. The kinetics of the reactions of poly-l-lysine with 1-chloro-, 1-bromo, and 1-iododinitrobenzene have been investigated over the pH range 8.5-11.0. 2. 2. The reactivity of poly-l-lysine was resolved into two parts, one associated with the helical regions and the other associated with the coil regions. 3. 3. The order of the reactivity was found to be Br ≈ CI > I. 4. 4. No base catalysis was observed. © 1979.
