Abstract
Sm3+ doped SrWO4 was synthesized by the high temperature solid-state reaction method to explore its possible application in optical thermometry. Under a 404 nm excitation, the fluorescence intensity ratios (FIRs) between the down conversion emissions of the Sm3+:(4)G(5/2) -> H-6(5/2) (564 nm) to the SM3+:(4)G(5/2) -> H-6(7/2) (600 nm) and Sm3+:(4)G(5/2) -> H-6(9/2) (647 nm), respectively, were measured as a function of temperature in the range of 300-573 K. A maximum temperature sensitivity of 0.016 K-1 at 300 K is achieved. The results indicate that the SrWO4:Sm3+ is a promising candidate for optical thermometry. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V.
