Abstract
This paper discusses properties and performance of two permancent plasticizers for PVC under development, PB 3041 and PB 3042 which are high-molecular-weight ethylene copolymers normally supplied as pellets or granules. They are very slightly crystalline with low melting points and heats of fusion, and have significant strength of their own to contribute to compounds with PVC. Extraction by soapy water and hexane is near zero. Volatility. migration, and high humdity spew are essentially zero. These plasticizers provide outstanding low-temperature impact resistance and very high tear strength. Test data are tabulated.
