The solubility of anthracene in N, N-dimethyformamide (DMF), N, N-dimethylacetamide (DMA) and N-methylpyrrolidinone (NMP) was determined at 20-95°C, by liquid-solid phase equilibrium method. The solubility model of anthracene in DMF, DMA and NMP was also established by UNIFAC group contribution method and the model equations were solved through MATLAB. The results show that the experimental solubility data agree well with the prediction values. The average error between calculated results and experimental data is 17.56%, 15.24% and 29.65% in DMF, DMA and NMP respectively. The UNIFAC model can be applied to predict the solubility of anthracene in DMF, DMA and NMP. The work provides an elementary basis for selecting a solvent and optimizing process in the separation and purification of anthracene process by solvent methods.
