Abstract
1. The oxidation of dibutyl sulfide with DMSO at 160-175° is complicated by secondary processes and hardly any dibutyl sulfoxide is formed. 2. Reaction conditions were found that made it possible to obtain certain dialkyl sulfoxides (dipropyl and dibutyl sulfoxides) in 70% yield. © 1977 Plenum Publishing Corporation.
