Abstract
Solvents for aromatic recovery by either extractive distillation or extraction can be neatly rated in terms of the limiting activity coefficients for hexane and benzene. A pattern developed from data for over 35 solvents covering a temperature range of 25° to 1 00° C. clearly shows top selectivities to be expected for given solvencies and the characteristic structures of solvents associated with such levels. Existing correlations make the pattern of data usable for other types of hydrocarbon separations. © 1964, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
