Abstract
1. At temperatures above 300-350°C, in the hydrate-hydroxyl cover of γ-Al2O3, delocalization of the protons takes place, and this must be taken into account in describing the mechanism of the catalytic action of platinized alumina catalyst. 2. Various paths have been examined for the interaction of hydrocarbon molecules (methane and hexane) with the hydroxyl-containing groupings of the aluminum oxide component of platinized alumina catalyst. 3. A correlation has been found between H-D exchange with CD4, on gadolinium-containing γ-Al2O3 (grade A-15) and the conversion of n-hexane on platinized alumina catalyst promoted with gadolinium. © 1984 Plenum Publishing Corporation.
