Abstract
Dielectric constants, densities and refractive indices of 28 organic liquids at 303.15 K and dielectric constants of four binary mixtures of 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene with n-heptane, n-octane, n-hexadecane and cyclohexane at 298.15 K have been determined using a microprocessor-based digital LCR-Sortester. The data on pure liquids have been used to calculate the dipole moments by using the equations of Onsager, Kirkwood, Syrkin and Jatkar. Similarly, the dielectric results of the binary mixtures are used to calculate the excess dielectric constants from the dielectric mixing rules of the dielectric theories of Debye, Onsager and Kirkwood.
