Five concentrations of methomyl 40 SP (Dunet) were tested against the eggs of Helicoverpa armigera(Hub.) in the laboratory. The results indicated that there was a direct relationship between concentration of methomyl and the percent inhibition of hatchability, i.e, the per cent hatchability decreased as the concentrations increased. Concentration of 1.0, 0.2 and 0.04 per cent caused the highest inhibition of hatchability, while concentration of 0.0016 per cent caused significantly the lowest hatchability which was 58.0%. Methomyl proved to be more effective compared to endosulfan as an ovicide.
