Abstract
Efficacy of Lustre 37.5 SE (Flusilazole 12.5% + Carbendazim 25%), a new fungicide was studied against Rice sheath blight in an experiment conducted in Central Research Station of Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology, Bhubaneswar, Orissa, during Kharif 2006-07 in rice cv. Swarna. The efficacy of the fungicide was studied in three different doses 640 ml, 800 ml and 960 ml/ha alongwith two other fungicides namely Cursor 40 EC (Flusilazole) 200, 250 and 300 ml/ha and Dhanustin 50 WP (Carbendazim) 320 g, 400 g and 480 g/ha. Hexadhan 5 EC (Hexaconazole) 625 ml/ha was included in the experiment as standard check. The spraying of each chemical treatment was applied as foliar spray and the observations were recorded at panicle initiation stage. All the three fungicides at different doses reduced the sheath blight disease severity as compared to untreated control. Lustre 37.5 SE (Flusilazole 12.5% + Carbendazim 25%) 960 ml/ha was observed to be the best treatment in which the PDI (17.88) was the lowest and the grain yield was highest (4626 kg/ha) which was 72.22% more over untreated control. Hexadhan 5 EC (Hexaconazole), the check fungicide was the second best treatment which recorded a PDI of 22.51 with the second highest grain yield of 4179 kg/ha and which was 55.58% increase over untreated control. Lustre 37.5 SE (Flusilazole 12.5% + Carbendazim 25%) was also observed to be effective against the brown spot pathogen Helminthosporium oryzae and the leaf blast pathogen Pyricularia oryzae during Kharif 2006-07. Lustre 37.5 SE (Flusilazole 12.5% + Carbendazim 25%) even at higher dose of 1920 ml and 3840 ml/ha was found to be non-phytotoxic. It was also found to be compatible with 1% Urea and Endosulfan 1000 ml/ha.
