Abstract
Transport phenomena associated with the heating of stationary saturated fluid approximately one degree above saturation by an inclined partially submerged copper plate were studied using laser holographic interferometry. Interpretation of the hologram yielded the general characteristics of the meniscus region where the combined influence of natural convection, conduction, and surface tension gradients are important. Water and tri-chloro-fluoro-methane (Freon-11) were used as the working fluids. © 1988 by ASME.
