We followed PRISMA 2009 guidelines for systematic review and meta-analysis. We undertook a MEDLINE database search on PubMed, CyberLeninka, elibrary. Searching terms used were: risk factors of Parkinson's Disease development. We restricted our review to full-text articles written in English and in Russian. The results of meta-analysis were preferred. The final search was carried out on March 31, 2017. Published studies were included if they fulfilled the following criteria: assessed at least 1 risk factor or early nonmotor symptom preceding a subsequent diagnosis of PD; reported original data on relative risks or odds ratios from cohorts representative of the general population or case-control studies with cases defined as patients diagnosed with PD. We excluded studies with abstracts only available and with statistically non-significant associations. Some factors (physical activity, alcohol intake, smoking, outdoor work, coffee drinking, vitamin E intake, hypertension, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, calcium channel blockers, statins) decreased risk of PD development, others (ageing, male sex, family aggregation of PD, genetic factors, hydrocarbon exposure, farming, organic solvents, pesticides, rural living, dairy products intake, well water drinking, constipation, head injury, anxiety or depression, osteoporosis, beta-blockers treatment) - increased, thirds (extremely low frequency magnetic fields, manganese exposure, welding, cholesterol, carbohydrate, protein, total fat, folate, vitamin A, В6, В12, С, D intake, tea drinking, diabetes mellitus, cancer, gastric ulcer, oophorectomy, gout, general anesthesia, oral contraceptives, hormone replacement therapy) didn't influence on risk of PD. Some factors affecting the risk of PD development may be considered as established; others are needed in further investigations. Mechanisms of some factors influence on BP development are not revealed, and they are needed in studding in future. Etiology of PD is unknown, but interaction of genetic and environmental factors, is probably, responsible for the development of PD. © 2018 Izdatel'stvo Meditsina. All rights reserved.
