Abstract
1. The capabilities of BeO, MgO, ZnO, and CdO for dehydrogenating hydrocarbons were estimated on the basis of the multiplet theory. The calculations showed that ZnO and CdO should catalyze reactions of this type, but that BeO and MgO should not. 2. It was found experimentally that CdO dehydrogenated cyclohexane, cyclohexene, piperidine, and butene, and that the catalyst was simultaneously reduced to the metal by the hydrogen from the feed material. 1961 Consultants Bureau.
