1. The rate of isomerization of cyclohexane to methylcyclopentane on an industrial WS2 catalyst under a pressure of a nitrogen-hydrogen mixture (1:1) is practically independent of the partial nitrogen pressure. 2. The adsorption of nitrogen and hydrogen on WS2 at 300 and 400° over the pressure range up to 100 atm was investigated. 3. Possible reasons for the retardation of cyclohexane isomerization on WS2 wiih an increase in the partial hydrogen pressure were analyzed. 4. From the hypothesis that there is an equilibrium dehydrogenation stage in cyclohexane isomerization and activation of the catalyst by adsorbed hydrogen we derived an approximate equation, which agrees qualitatively with the experimental data obtained on the effect of hydrogen pressure on the rate of the process studied. 1961 Consultants Bureau Enterprises Inc.
