Abstract
1. An investigation was made of the catalytic properties of erbium oxide and erbium oxide on alumina in the transformations of cyclohexane, ethylcyclopentane, and heptane at 545-590° in a flow system. 2. Under the given conditions these catalysts bring about the dehydrogenation of cyclohexane to benzene, the dehydroisomerization of ethylcyclopentane to toluene, and the dehydrocyclization of heptane to toluene. 3. Under the given conditions in presence of these catalysts the original hydrocarbons undergo cracking reactions, the extent of which depends on the temperature of the experiment and the structure of the hydrocarbon. 1962 Consultants Bureau.
